| This program is a one-on-one workshop for essay writing. For an affordable rate, you can have your child sharpen and polish his or her writing skills with one of our professional writing instructors. Each week, the student will write an essay on a different topic. Students are expected to arrive twenty-five minutes prior to meeting with the instructor and complete the essay during this time. The objective here is to simulate essay-writing conditions for the SAT. Essay topics are diverse, as are the genres of writing. Topics are modeled after actual SAT topics. Students will spend half an hour with the instructor who will edit their essays and use those edits to teach students how to effectively plan, outline and logically construct cogent and well-structured essays. Our instructors will focus on teaching high school students how to write a strong thesis as well as develop a unique and mature voice. The students will then rewrite their essays in the remaining half hour.
